Thermal Overload Relay

- Aug 01, 2018-

Thermal Overload Relay is a small electro-mechanical device that protects motors from overheating, if the motor pulls too much electricity for an extended period of time, the relay may trip and cut the power to the motor to prevent damages.

The thermal overload relay has three bimetal poles, relays that are equipped with bimetal tripping elements, and the current for the motor runs through the three elements.

When too much electrical current passes through the poles, overheat is caused by this, the relay works to shut off the excess electrical current before it reaches the motor which results in the temperature discrepancy.
